My six-year-old daughter is a gem, she is adorable, expressive, loving, fierce, loyal, and kind. She is also stubborn as all get out and knows exactly how to push my buttons as a father.

For over a year I’ve been trying to figure out how I can be a better dad and nurture my six-year-old. I’ve tried many small experiments and most lead to me getting frustrated or triggered when she’s in the mood to push my buttons.

Creation Brings Me Joy

My Dad came into town for his 64th birthday, mostly to see the grandkids, and we shared a meal and asked him – what do you want to do with your time when you retire?

As would any good grandfather (I think), his first answer was to spend more time with his kids and grandkids and create and share memories with them. After dessert was done and the kids ran off to play we probed him on a deeper answer.
