Clarity and the Brain

The prefrontal cortex (PFC) is the part of the brain that is responsible for complex behaviors. It is often referred to as the executive center of the brain. The PFC is energy intensive and limited in its capacity, and processes things in a serial manner.

Neuroscience teaches us the prefrontal cortex is the area of the brain we use to understand new ideas and to solve problems.

Given that we know how the prefrontal cortex works (energy intensive, limited in capacity and serial in nature) we can take intentional actions and steps to optimize our ability to learn and grow.

My takeaway is the need for clarity. I need to make sure I work hard to clarify problems and challenges I’m trying to solve to engage the correct part of my brain to find solutions. This clarity will also help others understand and be able to help me.

What is an intentional action you can take to take advantage of your prefrontal cortex given its limitations?
