For years, my wife and I had on our list of things to do a star gazing tour at Bryce Canyon National Park. It is advertised as one of the darkest places on the planet.
This summer we were finally able to do it and I had an insight related to a post I wrote a while back on light pollution.
When we got there the sun had set but the sky was not dark quite yet. We could see a sliver of the moon and a small handful of some of the brightest stars. As the night progressed it got darker and darker and the number of stars was more than I had ever seen. I was amazed.
The stars are always there but I had to get away from the “pollution”. It is so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life to not see the things that are always there. Especially the things that are inside of me.
I now see more clearly how important it is for me to be aware of the “pollution” around me and intentionally remove myself from it to see myself and others more clearly.
Take a moment right now to jot down one way you can remove yourself from the current crazy to get a fresh perspective on yourself and life.
