The Stories People Believe

Recently I finished Tribes by Seth Godin. His books are always interesting and insightful. In Tribes he had a point that hit home for me. The point went something like this.

People do not believe the stories that you tell them, and they rarely believe what you show them. Often, they believe what their friends tell them, and they always believe what they tell themselves.

My takeaway here is it is my job to create stories that people can tell themselves. Stories in which insights can become personalized and you can see yourself in them.

I do not know yet how to do this, but I would love your thoughts and coaching on how this might be done.
