My Insight Journal

I have learned over time that I am a deliberate thinker. I need, and take the time, to process experience, information, and research. While this is often a “slower” learning style, it gives me the space to integrate new things into my learning journey and to practically apply them by taking action.

I have been working to develop the skills needed to accelerate this learning process at home with my family and at work. This blog is a learning journey for me – a space where I can document my insights; a space where I can grapple with, think through, apply, and experiment based on my experience and new insights that I have. This is a space where I hope to be intentional, think deeply and put the puzzle pieces together. One of my goals is to have more breadth, depth, and tools at the ready for when I need them in the moment. My hope is that by sharing this, it can be helpful to you too. Perhaps, it can even start a conversation that might help us both.

I don’t know exactly what this journey will look like or what form it will take over time but I’m eager to experiment. Here are a few things I know going into this learning journey:

  • Writing clarifies my thoughts and forces me to take a stand and/or have an opinion
  • Once written down, I can reason about my thoughts and argue more effectively for or against them to strengthen my thinking and learning.

I do have a philosophy about learning that will be a pattern you’ll see throughout my posts. We can read and study as much as we want but unless we act, unless we experiment and try out the things that we are learning or studying it won’t become real and we won’t actually learn. My intention is to share an insight and then extend an invitation to act or experiment on that insight.

My core values and beliefs are extremely important to me and guide me in my decision making. You will not see my core values change but I do reserve the right to alter and improve my perspective and opinions on any number of topics as I learn and grow.

I’d love for you to come along with me on this journey – let us learn together. Share your insights with me – invite me to act and you and I can achieve things we never thought were possible.
