Creating Clarity

Sometimes when having a conversation with a leader you get a nugget of wisdom that changes the way you think. Charlotte Yarkoni did this for me recently.

I asked Charlotte a question that went like this; the last few years have been full of uncertainty, what have you done to create clarity for your team and organization?

She shared that she spends 30-40% of her time meeting with team members one on one. In these conversations she focuses on purpose. The purpose of their work, organization, and their individual purpose. It is this grounding in purpose that has led to greater engagement and retention of her team. It is fascinating to me that to scale her impact within the organization she met one by one. It feels antithetical to scale, yet her impact is felt throughout the organization.

What are the high leverage activities that you should be doing one by one with those you lead? Write down a few ideas and experiment with them.
